The UX & IA is simply designed around an abstract concept for how to mine an asteroid. This is to protect the innovations created under contract but to also express a designer's interface potential.

How to Mine an Asteroid
Quantum Destabilizer

Is deployed over high concentrations of desirable minerals before docking to the asteroid.

A user can increase or decrease the rate of destabilization which can reduce the time required to fully destabilize a zone.

A faster rate of destabilizing materials will increase the risk of a spherical collapse

When the materials are sufficiently destabilized, then the Stabilizer Plug must be docked over the destabilization entry point.
Stabilization Plug

The stabilization Plug will act as an entry point for extraction drilling or more destabilizing.

The Stabilization Plug can be set to increase or decrease stability providing it has the required energy supply.

Warning! If the energy supply runs out then the risk of a spherical collapse increases significantly.

Stability can be increased for this stabilization plug to balance out the collapse risk due to nearby operations.
Extraction Drill

The Extraction Drill must first dock with the Stabilization Plug before synchronizing their power supplies.

Before drilling the stabilization plug will release stability on the materials surrounding the drill extraction tip

When the extraction tip reaches the intended depth, the stabilization plug will release stability to form controlled collapses that then fall into the first crusher at the extraction tip.

Throughout the extraction process a hard stabilized crater is carefully shaped to reduce the overall risk of a spherical collapse.
Controlled Spherical Collapses

When the risk of a spherical collapse surpasses the value of available stable resources measured against the cost of extracting those resources, then the operator should perform a Controlled Spherical Collapse.

Depending on the mineral value, it may be worth sacrificing a stabilization plug to have further control over the collapse.

Perform stability and material scans after the collapse completes.
